Tarik Skubal is in the engine’s seat as October approaches. This is finally his chance to show he is a clutch time performer deep into the postseason. The Los Angeles Dodgers have not finished with one of their best regular seasons and injuries still mount.
Shohei Ohtani has been a player of observance. Throughout this year, he has barely pitched and could be the ultimate deciding factor of the Dodgers’ postseason chances.
Skubal is a former 2x Cy Young winner and has traveled from Detroit to L.A. just to reach this far. Skubal is compared to the time C.C. Sabathia was traded from the Cleveland Indians to the Milwaukee Brewers.
During his short time in Milwaukee, he completed 7 games and led them to their first postseason appearance in 26 years. The subsequent year, he signed a contract with the New York Yankees and won a World Series.
The difference between him and Skubal is the 2026 American League All-Star wanted to complete his time in Detroit. People do not know what to make of Skubal’s future past the postseason.
Past the postseason, teams may start looking for answers to counteract the Dodgers MLB dominance. Especially with the lockout possible, nobody knows the conclusion of the start of the 2027 season.
In order for the Dodgers to win, they must rely on not only Skubal but Yoshinubo Yamamoto, a healthy Blake Snell, and the rest of the team to perform at a peak level. October is here, baby!
