Barry Melrose passed away at 70 on Wednesday. He was a ESPN analyst and coach that transcended the sport of Hockey.

He famously coached the Los Angeles Kings with Wayne Gretzky to the Stanley Cup Final by winning three straight road series. After that, he shared a bond with his friend Steve Levy at ESPN for three decades where only he could breakdown Hockey for the viewer at home.

Melrose was always spot on when it came to rushing plays on the ice. He would understand and find a deep connection within the NHL fan.

He did not leave fans disconnected on what happened or Barry alone. Melrose made sure that Hockey was his top priority and stood at large.

Melrose, unfortunately had to retire in 2023 because of Parkinson’s disease, but he will be remembered with the slicked back hair who called Hockey straight down the middle.

Melrose played six seasons in the NHL.
