First, the New York Yankees reached the 2024 World Series vs. the Dodgers and wound up losing. Secondly, they end up losing star RF Juan Soto to free agency and now.
The Yankees want to eliminate their beard policy after 49 years in order to hypothetically win.
That stands correct. After having arguably an abysmal offseason, and not acquiring the likes of rumored Nolan Arenado or Boston Red Sox rival, Alex Bregman. They have decided this would be the best course of action for some of their players including Austin Wells and Devin Williams.
Austin Wells was shocked himself when discovering the news as George Steinbrenner, the father of Hal, would not allow this back in the 1950’s of U.S. Air Forces services. Wells simply always kept a beard during the offseason.
Meanwhile, Williams he simply did not want to shave his beard which could explain the theory on some players not being attracted to New York. Williams’ contract expires at the end of 2025.
What we have learned, however, is that despite the move to alter course with well-groomed beards, the Yankees are desperately doing whatever they can to stay the number one viable contender in Major League Baseball.
It has not happened in quite sometime but if you ask me. The New York Mets are beginning to reign territory and so are the defending 2024 World Series champions, Los Angeles Dodgers.
