  • What is Next for Phillies?

    The Phillies lost their final of the 2025 MLB season 1-2 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Former Phil and coach Howie Kendrick without no hesitation that the Phils would swing into this series dead even, but instead the worst happened when newer reliever Orion Kerkering blew a game with the waning seconds remaining!

    94 WIP, local Phillies radio station, called this a travesty and similar to Ben Simmons not dunking the ball.

    It is sour, is it not.

    What is worse the Phillies fall back into a scenario they have to regroup with a hopeful new GM, Preston Mattingly, the son of Don Mattingly.

    Don has come up across scenarios like this, as a former head coach for the Dodgers. The Dodgers are luckily headed to their 7th NLCS with future Hall of Fame manager, Dave Roberts.

    He has just done an absolute job than former interim manager, Rob Thomson.

    Thomson faced the questions already last night from reporters whether his job is secure and he simply said the best he could was go check on sixty other heartbroken men that adjourned on the road, just to lose against the Dodgers.

    Many questions face the Phillies but it is unfair to say jobs come down to Dave Dombrowski or Thomson at the moment.

  • 2025 NL Postseason: Wild Card series Predictions

    Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Cincinatti Reds

    Will Smith and Max Muncy should be ready to go and help Los Angeles steer in the right direction. Stunningly for them, they play Cincinnati who has Elly de La Cruz entering his first postseason and there is nobody like him.

    Until, they can expose de La Cruz and their pitching staff to the postseason more, this will be a no big for Los Angeles as they enter in first place of the NL West at 93-69.

    Prediction: Dodgers in 2

    San Diego Padres vs. Chicago Cubs

    It is easily the Chicago Cubs (92-70) but not so fast. The Padres are better home than they are away. Mike Shildt had this to say about the series.

    “There’s not another ballpark, I would say, that can be any trickier than Wrigley,” manager Mike Shildt said. “We’re aware of it.”

    The Padres finished with a 38-43 record on the road. There is reason to believe, however, they will take advantage of Chicago’s long drought deficit at home since 2017.

    We shall call it the aftermath leading into departures such as Kyle Hendricks, Kyle Schwarber, Jon Lester, and Kris Bryant.

    That team was special, not here.

    Prediction: Padres in 3.

  • What Was Notable of Jonah Tong

    Jonah Tong was sensational. In fact, he was a phenomenon straight out the gate. It was quick, perfect, ease, and transition to the point, Tong immediately struck out six in 5 innings and called it a night.

    That easy.

    Many critics compared him to Tim Lincecum prior to the game and they were right. Sometimes, it takes more than one game to assess a performance but Tong had it. He possessed poise and overtime Citi Field and him should have easy roads ahead.

    Tong will come in handy for the 2025 MLB Postseason as his fastball touched 97 mph and rides elite amongst other pitches. Manager Carlos Mendoza praised his ability to take advantage of the heater and implement that and what people are criticizing his changeup and curveball.

    Both, possess the ability for Tong to be an extreme new generational pitcher and help the New York Mets, tremendously. The New York Mets have kept themselves in a better position than almost last year when they fell behind and reached atop the Postseason standings.

    This postseason will be a test and Tong is present.

  • Why Kyle Schwarber is a Coward

    Kyle Schwarber is a coward for all the right reasons. He is arrogant, manipulative, and powerful. It has led him to NL MVP conversations over the course of this season. Manager Rob Thomson could not get enough of praising him while his job was on the line.

    The Phillies have until September 28, 2025 to determine whether they are the crowning achievers of the NL East. Schwarber started his career in Chicago, Washington, and Boston. Why all of a sudden is he hitting the ball so fantastic?

    It is simply because of getting accustomed to playing in Citizens Bank Park and playing behind a No.1 hitter, still, in 2021 NL MVP, Bryce Harper. Harper is the essence of the Philadelphia Phillies organization, not Schwarber. Schwarber made up his mind after all the dingers, community fundraising, and Dave Dombrowski that this team was headed in a new direction with or without him.

    The Phillies have a gigantic decision to make which they have never done in their organizational philosophy. Do you overpay a surmountable money to a player that is passing through colors of his prime in Philadelphia or trust the cap-off of a 2025 MLB World Series?

    It was cowardice Schwarber did not extend a deal with one of the best organizations in professional baseball but nobody knows where his heart or Cal Raleigh’s lies just yet until they ultimately go and play MLB postseason team baseball.

    It has been an interesting season of baseball. There is nobody still as transcendent looking on the outside such as Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge who are hanging onto every last breath with their respective teams from last year’s World Series classic between Los Angeles and New York.

  • Zack Wheeler Faces Season-Ending Surgery

    Wheeler has been dealt with season-ending venous thoracic outlet surgery. The Philadelphia Phillies ace will turn 36 next year and various sources are claiming that Wheeler will likely miss some of 2026.

    Wheeler will begin throwing on the mound in eight weeks but this throws cause for major concern. The Phillies starting rotation ranks third in MLB and Christopher Sanchez is leading the way now. There have been bumps in the roads with some of their other lefties such as Ranger Suarez and Jesus Luzardo but does this open the door for pitching prospect, Andrew Painter?

    It would be a move out of desperation. The last leftie to pull out strong was Cliff Lee in the 2009 MLB Postseason with a 4-0 record and 1.56 ERA. He played with a really good seasoned veteran in ‘Doc’ Halladay and I am not too certain the Phillies have the numbers on their side especially with their bullpen reliever Jose Alvarado’s absence.

    Read back on Sports Kingdom’s recent article by Julian Bravo as much will solely be determined by the heart and fate of Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber one last time without Wheeler undergoing a more unique surgical procedure.

  • Ending Stretch on Philadelphia Phillies

    The stretch is coming to a close for the Philadelphia Phillies. They are the NL East division leaders and could not feel happier. Meanwhile, Zack Wheeler removed a blood clot that is crucial.

    Christopher Sanchez talked about how much he values Wheeler as a teammate and that is not to say there is still sometime to change that philosophy from upside down. Sanchez is easily the man in charge now. Wheeler is 35 and there are no qualms after all the praise from manager Rob Thomson over the past three seasons that Sanchez should get the ace starting responsibility.

    Rather than look after Wheeler, it is time for Sanchez to seize action and be the best ace going forward and into the postseason. Ranger Suarez, as predicted, has posted a 9-6 record with a 3.25 ERA. He is no good as well as Jesus Luzardo.

    Which leaves to Aaron Nola, who when called upon originally, has been lights out. Despite his recent rehab stint back, I expect him to be the second go-to starter for the Philadelphia Phillies in a relief ditch effort of feasibly his last along other likes such as Orion Kerkering, Matt Strahm, and Jhoan Duran.

    The Phillies have paid for the graphics and music now. it is time to rest and phase in on the tremendous action Duran, Strahm, Kerkering, and Strahm can bring as Jose Alvarado will poorly be missed. Again, I do not think the bullpen has the makings of some NL West powerhouses such as the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres.

    President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski failed in that department by a tad but what the Phillies do have in favor is Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper. Together, they make up 89 home runs and lead some of the NL in that category. Only, if it were down to postseason Harper, Citizens Bank Park would know what the Phillies are made of.

    There could be some surprising stars or prospects on the horizon for the Philadelphia Phillies but all that is left is a possible ending chapter for the likes of Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, Zack Wheeler, and more in red, proud, glorious, pinstripes.
