Panthers Sign Jadeveon Clowney
Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney will be returning home to the Carolina Panthers. He had previously played for Rock Hill S.C. High and South Carolina where other standout Stephon Gilmore performed. Clowney was such a standout last year in Baltimore’s Mike Macdonald’s system as he tallied a career-high 9.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
Clowney stated he wanted to return home to South Carolina to be with his family and aging grandfather. He did have offers from the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens but having spent 11 NFL seasons, earning three Pro Bowl acceptances, and continuing to add to his burst of career sacks (52.5). He selected Carolina along with DJ Wonnum.

Lion Spike: A Simba Moment
An East African tribe used to do a ritual. It was called the Lion Spike. They would encircle the Lion and insert a spike into the lion’s mouth. Ironically enough, the Baltimore Ravens celebrate with the Lion Spike in their locker room after games.
Now would not it be something if the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions met in the Super Bowl. The Lions have played in two conference championships while the Niners are competing in 19 NFC Championship games.
The 49ers came off a slight, impressive 24-21 victory over Green Bay. Green Bay deserves kudos this season, especially Jordan Love. He may not have withered the same outcome vs. Dallas but finished with a 72.4 rating.
Baltimore, meanwhile, is playing lights out. They defeated the Houston Texans by a huge margin score and look to not skip a beat. Defensively, they made sure CJ Stroud felt uncomfortable inside the pocket, and all the reason to believe DC Mike MacDonald is heading towards a head coaching position.
Baltimore issued a bye week in their initial contests so for them to be well-rested and stoked for the Lions, seems to be a Simba moment.
