The Anaheim Angels went out and made one of their smartest moves since acquiring Anthony Rendon. They released him.
Rendon will be owed $38 million for the next three to five years. This will allow the Angels to explore different options as the Rendon era was foolish.
Rendon did not play up to expectations. He never played a full season of baseball and what was worse is the actions and words spoken by Rendon.
Rendon was a cash cow in Washington. He won a World Series, and, then a switch turned on him.
It was never the same Rendon who became the highest paid third baseman in the game of baseball. He overstepped boundaries with reporters and never quite traveled with the team.
As many of the issues Anaheim had, this is one of them. Never sign with a team unless the player has the gull to stand in the batter’s box.
It is quite simple.
