It is being reported that the Cleveland Browns are expected to interview Mike McDaniel.
The Browns are a team in the hunt for a new head coach after the firing of Kevin Stefanski. Stefanski will receive another chance elsewhere.
As for McDaniel, this adds to the craziness of years with owner Jimmy Haslam unless the Browns have the stake to outbid for John Harbaugh.
There was once a TV children’s show called, “Hey Arnold.” Did you ever hear of it? No, I did not think so.
There should be eyes and ears focused on Sam Darnold when he enters the second round of the 2026 NFL Playoffs.
Darnold bursted onto the scene when he began his career as a New York Jet. Fast forward to 2026, Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider surrounded adequate talent around Darnold to come in handy.
The Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers were successful trips. Although, this year’s playoffs means more than anything to Darnold and his NFL career.
There maybe few chances to come by for him when there is a great group of players, coaching, and leadership at the very top of the organization. The Seahawks have nothing to settle on, other than themselves.
Matt Eberflus
Eberflus or ‘The Flus’ was released of his duties as Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator on Tuesday. The Flus did not live up to expectations.
In his first and only season, Dallas finished with one of the NFL’s worst scoring and total defenses. In fact, Jerry Jones thinks Flus is not to blame, saying, they built toward a certain project for five to six years, whatever that means.
The type of defensive personnel was lethally off and most of all. They traded Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs for Logan Wilson and Quinnen Williams.
Don Mattingly
Mattingly does not want to manage. He wants to see players flourish as a bench coach.
It was announced yesterday that Don Mattingly will become the Philadelphia Phillies bench coach and return for his 36th season as a player, coach, and manager. He will also be reuniting with his son, Preston Mattingly who currently serves as Phillies general manager.
This is one astonishing story as fans in Philadelphia should appreciate. Don has been around the game for a long time and will bestow knowledge to those such as Bryce Harper.
Like Harper, Mattingly played first base and would be more than willing to help at that position. Mattingly, Kevin Long, and Rob Thomson add to former Yankees coaches, now part of the Phillies organization.
Micah Parsons did not have any of it. Parsons took to Twitter on how a local blogger was wrong in assessing Trevon Diggs tenure in a Dallas Cowboys uniform.
He wrote, “I feel like what point is there in trying to publicly disrespect someone? He’s not representing the star anymore, just give the man a farewell and wish him the best. I don’t know why everything has to be negative every time a break-up happens! He’s in a better situation rn, trust me! Bro’s gonna be great again!”
Bro is going to be great again. The Cowboys are a mess. They could not have just been patient on several of their defensive stars and acclimate in a system other than Matt Eberflus.
Eberflus led the worst pass defense and allowed the most points per game (29.8). There should be no excuses in the Dallas locker room.
They have been given a ton of chances by those in charge. Is it next man up or wisen up?
The Cowboys have the audacity to trade their best star Micah Parsons and release a player that stood to improve in man coverage and accrue 11 interceptions in a single season.
It should be made clear that they wasted careers in the likes of Zack Martin, Tyron Smith, Dak Prescott, Parsons and Diggs.
The theme does not necessarily become older with this franchise losing and finishing 7-8-1. Much respect to Brian Schottenheimer, to give a press release that the Cowboys are riding out the season, to find a way of winning games without playoff contention, is blatantly absurd.
There must be changes that provide the example of Parsons and Diggs in Dallas.
Congratulations to the Chicago Bears on clinching their first NFC North title since 2019. Consdered then, the Double-Doink, Matt Nagy and crew witnessed a heartblowing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at the heart and souls of Soldier Field.
Now, Bears fans can rejoice and hope Caleb Williams and company buoy to a significant playoff win, after the Green Bay Packers loss Saturday night to the Baltimore Ravens.
The Packers won in their first meeting with the Bears, however. The Bears emerged in OT, as victors, and conquered the Packers with no bittersweet touch of a Double-Doink.
Dave Canales knows a lot about Seattle as he preps for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. The Seattle Seahawks were the grand home of Canales for 13 consecutive years. He would instill flashing positivity with the likes of Geno Smith and Russell Wilson for as many years Canales was quarterbacks coach.
Interstate 405 brings back a lot of nostalgia and good memories for coach Canales. Heading into Seattle vs. Carolina, the Panthers hold a stake at clinching the NFC South division title for the first time since seven years ago.
Canales learnt frequently from head coach at the time, Pete Carroll. The biggest thing was simply to juggle time and compete. Whether it be marrying the pass with the run or taking care of the ball, the team primarily goes out with a conscience of toughness to win games.
That is how Canales learned in his native California. He learned mainly through respect and being an assistant strength coach and video assistant, the proper way.
