Bob Motzko’s Season Gets Worse

Bob Motzko’s season (11-22-3) just got worse. Off the heels of Frozen Four appearances and runner-up finishes (2023), Motzko came close to what was preciously his which is the National championship at Minnesota.

The two sides agreed to mutually part ways after failing with the current crop of prospects. There was a total collection of 15 All-Americans and 3 Olympians coached by Motzko. Minnesota’s last men’s title was in 2003, the year Motzko was still an assistant coach.

He fought absolutely hard to reach the level of Brad Frost’s program who was also released by Minnesota. During 2023, Motzko had the championship in the palm of his hand but Quinnipac won in the last 10 seconds of overtime.

With him gone, there is now talk 2025 title winning coach Pat Ferschweiler might succeed Motzko.
